The modern equivalent of a 20.5 x 8 - 10 tire is a 205/65-10 tire. These two tires are going to have the exact same diameter of 20.5" therefore, you can absolutely use the 20.5 x 8 - 10 tires you have now as a spare. For a 205/65-10 tire, I recommend the Loadstar (Kenda) K399 Bias Trailer Tire part # AM1HP56. This tire has a bias ply, load range E (1,650 lbs) and speed rating N (87 mph).
